Our Souls at Night
Award-winning author Kent Haruf’s final book tells the story of two lonely people who come together despite the judgments of those close to them.
The final book by the award-winning author, who passed away in November 2014, is set in the small town of Holt, Colorado. It tells the story of a lonely widow who visits her neighbor, who is also widowed, with an out of the ordinary request – to find someone with whom to sleep with during the loneliest hours of the night. The two must learn to adjust to each other as well as deal with the judgments of their neighbors, friends and family. This short novel (192 pages) explores love, loneliness and relationships in Haruf’s trademark direct and simple writing style. It’s a fabulous ending to a great career.
