The Turner House

Part historical fiction, part family drama, and all heart – The Turner House tells the story of a family’s fifty years in Detroit.  From the original migration from the South (check out The Warmth of Other Suns for a great book companion to The Tuner House ) to the disintegration of Detroit neighborhoods, the Turner family loves and lives.

The Turner House

Angela Flournoy’s  debut novel, set in Detroit during the financial crisis of 2008, tells the story of the 13 adult children of Francis and Viola Turner, who must decide what to do with their family house in their east Detroit neighborhood that’s hit been hard by the city’s economic troubles. The story jumps back and forth across 50 years of changing lives.
