Jo lives in an underground world where everything runs on old technology. Her job is to maintain equipment, so mistakes can be costly. Trying to fix a mishap, she ventures above ground looking for materials.
Topside, she meets a grifter, a shapeshifting boy, and other interesting people. Her employers think she’s been kidnapped, but she can’t go back yet. Not without the rare materials she needs to fix her mistake. Her journey takes her to a moving city, a petrified forest, and other strange locations.
If she can find what she’s looking for, she might even be able to save the dying planet.
