Black and white image of man in wheelchair on the left, cover of book that reads "Unspeakable Hope: Brutality, Forgiveness, and Building a Better Future for My Son" in front of a colorful background on the right.

Join JCC’s Center for Loving Kindness, the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s CivicCLP for a Zoom conversation based on book excerpts that can impact how we move towards reconciliation as a community and as individuals. No need to read the book; we will share excerpts and guide discussion.

An Unspeakable Hope: Brutality, Forgiveness, and Building a Better Future for My Son

In 2012, Leon Ford was shot 5 times by a Pittsburgh police officer stemming from a case of mistaken identity. When he woke up in the hospital, he was faced with two life-changing realities: he was a new father, and he was paralyzed from the waist down. Leon found the only way to move forward was to let go of his bitterness and learn to practice forgiveness.
Author Leon Ford will be with us live for dialogue and reflection.
