Let’s Go Birdwatching

I spotted a brown-headed cowbird near the library not long ago. I’ve never been a birdwatcher, but lately I’ve been learning more about birds. It was exciting to see a new-to-me species that I could identify on sight.

There are many kinds of birds to see around town if you look. Not just pigeons and robins, but also woodpeckers, cardinals, hummingbirds, and more.

Would you like to learn more about birds? Check out Allegheny County Park Rangers presents Birds and Nests at CLP – Sheraden on August 16th.

You can also find books to get you started, or to hone your birdwatching skills. Try “The Backyard Birdwatcher’s Bible” by Christopher M. Perrins. Want to focus on birds you might see in your own neighborhood? Check out the “Birds of Pennsylvania Field Guide,” always available on Hoopla.

You can sign up for a free library card here. If you are new to our eResources, check out these tutorial videos on how to get started.
