Lynda.com Is Now LinkedIn Learning for Libraries

If you are a frequent user of LinkedIn Learning for Library (formerly Lynda.com), you may have noticed some recent changes. As of April 1, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s LyndaLibrary officially became LinkedIn Learning for Library.

What will these changes mean for me?

All features and functionalities from Lynda are available in LinkedIn Learning but in an updated, easier-to-use interface. With this upgrade, you will have access to more than 16,000 courses in seven different languages.

Your data from Lynda will migrate into your new LinkedIn Learning account. This includes prior course completions, in-progress courses and playlists (which are called “Collections” in LinkedIn Learning). Once you log in it may take up to an hour for your data to transfer to the new account.

Will I need a LinkedIn account to use LinkedIn Learning for Libraries?

LinkedIn Learning for Libraries can be accessed with a library card and PIN. There is no requirement for a LinkedIn profile.

Can I use LinkedIn Learning for Libraries on a mobile app?

Yes. You will need Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s “Library ID” to access LinkedIn Learning via the mobile app. You can find this ID at the end of the unique URL for LinkedIn Learning when you access it with your library card through Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s website.

The unique URL is https://www.linkedin.com/learning-login/go/carnegielibrary, so Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s ID is “carnegielibrary.”

After downloading the LinkedIn Learning app, you will be prompted to either “Sign in” or “Join now.” Choose “Sign in” and then select “Sign in with your library card” on the next screen. Enter the Library ID at the end of the URL in the field on the next screen and then your library card number and PIN to log in on the mobile app.
