Whether you are heading back to school online or in a homeschool setting, it is time to move beyond the famous figures shared in conventional history textbooks. One great way to learn about innovative people is to explore a stack of picture book biographies.
As librarians, we mostly believe that almost any problem can be solved—or at least better understood—through reading. The current pandemic is testing that belief (along with lots of others), but we are still searching for and sharing good resources as much as possible. If you also turn to books to help make sense of the world and you are trying to figure out how to explain the new reality to your kids, consider sharing some of these very recently published online titles with the children in your lives.

I chose World Sight Day to bring to your attention a new partnership between Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the Free Library of Philadelphia and Bookshare, a service that greatly enhances access to books and information for Pennsylvania’s print disabled patrons.
